Youth Radio! On Air!

Youth Radio! On Air! is currently being implemented by GET INNOVATION Bitola in partnership with the public high school Gymnasium “Josip Broz Tito” – Bitola, as a 36-month initiative that is building the first high school–based youth radio in the Balkans. The idea behind the project is simple but powerful – to create a media platform fully run by students, where young people from different social, cultural, and educational backgrounds can express themselves, share ideas, and learn together.

At the moment, more than 60 high school students have been actively involved in the project. Through journalism education, media literacy workshops, and hands-on radio production, students are learning how to create content, record podcasts, conduct interviews, plan shows, and promote their work online. More importantly, they are building confidence, teamwork skills, and a sense of responsibility by managing their own media platform.

Youth Radio! On Air! is creating a safe and inclusive space where young people can openly talk about topics that matter to them, such as education, mental health, youth activism, local culture, sports, and civic engagement. Through their radio shows and podcasts, students are not only sharing information, but also starting conversations and encouraging dialogue among their peers and the wider community.

By giving students full editorial responsibility and a public platform for their voices, the project is helping strengthen trust between young people, schools, and the local community, while also promoting youth participation and youth-led media.
